Joe Colombo fondue plate Arno for Italora
Modernist soup bowl with 2 handles designed by Joe Colombo for the Italian Italora. It is part of the "Arno" tableware, made of pressed glass and dates from the 1960s.
This is one of our favorite designs. So keep an eye on the shop because parts are added regularly.
About the designer:
The Italian Cesare "Joe" Colombo was born in 1930 and studied painting and architecture in Milan. In the 1950s he was part of the Movimento Nucleare for 4 years and later joined the Art Concret group. Art soon took a back seat and he resolutely opted for a career as a designer. In 1959 he took over the family electrical business and quickly started experimenting with new techniques and technologies. This resulted in own interior projects from 1962 onwards, and in designs for major brands such as Kartell (Chair n°4801 and Chair n°4860), Alessi, Comfort (Elda Armchair), Flexform (Tube Chair) and Boffi.
